Moi

I’m Gill - aka WelshWench - a curious, contrary, confusing, chaotic & quirky fractal addict/artist.

One of those online profile tests reckons I am “modest, inquisitive, dependable, assertive & competitive” to which I say “usually, terminally, always, definitely and sometimes”

Any images or videos I post in my galleries are my original work and are copyrighted. Do NOT post them elsewhere without my express, written consent. Or I will find you and pull your fingernails out. Slowly. If you don’t believe me, check the pic - I haven’t got any sweeter since I was five! ;-)

Why a blog?
Good question!

No-one’s asked “why a gallery?”, despite the fact I have a gallery on deviantART but umpteen people have asked “why a blog?” and seem disinclined to take “why not?” as a reply :D

I nearly didn’t bother: why spend the time punting an odd assortment of opinions, a few facts, a soupcon of humour, a smattering of interesting links, out into the endlessness of cyberspace? Because I can? Whaddya mean, not a good enough answer? OK, how about because I wanted to? Don’t you dare ask me “why” again! ;)

When I started to look into blogs - what software is available, how many bells & whistles are there, how do you actually do stuff on them? - and so on I was somewhat taken aback when it dawned on me what a huge business blogging is these day. Yes, I said business. No-one will be unaware that many blogs carry adverts and we’ve all come across blogs whose raison d’etre is to pull together useful information on specific topics into one place (many of their sources being other blogs …) but I just hadn’t appreciated how many people use their blogs to generate income, let alone how many people make their livelihood from blogging. Mind-bogglng numbers (or should that be mind-bloggling? ;))

Then there are all the people who are making a living from advising other people how to make the most of their blog, how to maximise views and comments, how to maximise advertising revenue. Why your blog should have a focus, how to chose the focus, how to write posts, how to deal with comments and spam … it goes on and on.

So in complete and utter defiance of blogging as the current big “get rich quick” scheme, what’ll appear here is no more and no less than whatever happens to be on my mind when I find myself in the mood to type.
