And about time, too!

Talk about tardy. It’s not that I didn’t have anything to say (you at the back can stop laughing at the very thought) it’s more lack of time and a feeling that, apart from the occasional funny, I was usually only inspired to write because something or other had got so far up my nasal passages that it was going to have to be surgically removed :(

Anyway, I found a cure for that: go on holiday to Mexico for three weeks! :) I have about a thousand RAW files to sort through and then process which is going to take some time. But I’m going to enjoy the process immensely during the cold, drab, dark & wet autumn evenings because every one is going to bring back a great memory and put a smile on my face.

For reasons I won’t bore you with, we flew from the UK via Miami (next time it will be a direct flight … 21 hour days don’t agree with me) and on the return journey I was gobsmacked to be asked by the security officer at Cancun airport if I had a screwdriver in my backpack. Boy, was I puzzled. “No”, I said to him, “all that’s in here is camera equipment”. I began to open the bag … and then the penny dropped. I’d taken my Lee Filters with me and had completely forgotten that the filter holder, in its nice padded pouch, came with a small screwdriver (a slightly bigger version of the sort you’d use to repair your spectacles). Oooops.

So I had to leave it behind, and spent the next hour wondering how the hell it had not been picked up by security at either Heathrow or Miami on the way out. I was grateful for the oversight, not because I needed to use it while I was away, but because the security staff at Cancun were extremely pleasant, unlike their counterparts in the UK and USA who all appeared to have had their personalities and senses of humour surgically removed.

I sent an email ‘postcard’ after a week with a few pics that had been hastily processed on my laptop, so if you want a taster you can look at these here .

TV Dinner

Hooray! Simon Tofield has a new “Simon’s Cat” video available. I defy anyone who has ever been owned by a feline to watch this without nodding in agreement :)

Gallery Update

I’ve added a second Ultrafractal Gallery containing some of my more recent images.

It was hard work trying to remember how to do it … my short-term memory is not what it was ;-)
