They do things differently in The Gambia :)

When I was a kid, I used to love the phrase “sky blue pink”: it sounded like the nicest colour on the planet, or maybe a description of the nicest place. It always made me feel cheerful.
That phrase immediately came to mind when I started working on these sunset and sunrise images from our Gambia holiday – I hope you enjoy them too.
The last photograph – of the moon – was taken not long after the three preceding it. I’m throwing it in here because it’s the first moon pic I’ve ever tried, and it’s not bad for a 100% crop!

Charlie the Crocodile, that is. Not far from Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, is a town called Bakau, in which you will find the Kachikally Crocodile Pool. The most famous resident there is, apparently, called Charlie. Charlie and his chums are so tame that they can be petted. Yes I did. Briefly. Very briefly. Tame, maybe: large teeth, definitely!
Pics are few because the light was so harsh and horrible, and the last one is only there because of the dragonfly and damselfly sharing the branch behind the beastie’s head.

This video on YouTube shows the flavour of the place quite nicely.
